What's the difference between booth rental and commission?
Booth Rental: This model offers you complete independence. You rent a station at the salon, set your own hours, manage your clients, and keep all the money you make. You’re essentially running your own business within the salon, giving you the flexibility to build your brand and operate on your terms.
Commission: In a commission-based role, you work as part of The Network Salon team. We help manage your bookings, provide clients, and take care of administrative tasks. Your income is based on a percentage of the services you provide, with rates varying based on your level of independence and client management skills.
Am I ready for booth rental?
If your dream is to have your own business, come and go as you please, build your own brand, and enjoy the freedom and flexibility of being your own boss, booth rental might be the perfect next step for you. To determine if you’re ready, consider this: your rent should not exceed 1/3 of your monthly income. For example, at The Network Salon, full-time rental is $300 per week, totaling $1,200 per month. If you’re bringing in over $3,600 per month in services, it’s a strong indication that you’re ready to transition to booth rental.
What should I know before booth renting?
Being a booth renter is equal parts exciting and challenging. While it’s easy to start your own booth rental business, you must be mindful of the additional responsibilities, such as client management, tracking your finances, marketing your business, and maintaining inventory. At The Network Salon, we simplify these tasks by offering courses on business compliance, access to professional networks (like accountants and attorneys), and practical tools like income/expense tracking spreadsheets. Additionally, our color store ensures you’re always stocked with professional products, saving you time and money.
How do I know what commission rate I qualify for?
Our commission structure rewards independence. The more self-sufficient you are, the higher your commission rate. If you’re not yet fully booked and require assistance with scheduling and client management, you might start at a 45% commission rate. However, if you manage your own bookings and maintain a full client roster, you could qualify for up to 55%, the highest rate we offer. If you’re ready to take full control, we’d also love to support your transition to booth rental, allowing you to keep all of your earnings.
